DWI PA Man Found With Hollow-Point Bullets At Route 206 Gas Station: Police

A PA man was intoxicated when he was found with a box of hollow-point bullets at a gas station on Route 206, police said.

Police responding to a report of an erratic driver on Route 206 found Ronald E. Whitaker slumped over the steering wheel at the Shell gas station in Stanhope on Oct. 30, Byram Township police said in a Wednesday release.

Whitaker, of New Milford, PA, was awoken by officers who felt that he was intoxicated.

Whitaker subsequently failed a series of field sobriety tests, authorities said.

Officers arrested Whitaker and conducted a search of his vehicle, which turned up a drug paraphernalia and a box of hollow-point ammunition, police said.

Whitaker was taken to police headquarters and charged with DWI, under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hollow-point ammunition.

He was released to a friend and scheduled to appear in Sussex County Superior Court.
